From Štrbské Pleso to Veľké Hincovo pleso

The ascent to the Big Hince Mountain starts in the village of Strbské Pleso, which is accessible by car, train and bus. From Štrbské Pleso there is a hiking trail which is well marked.

Route to the Great Hincovo pleso

1. Štrbské Pleso - Trigan - Popradské pleso

Starting point: Štrbské Pleso

• Length of section: 4.2 km
• Time: 1 - 1,5 hours
• Tag: red

The route starts at Štrbské Pleso, which is an excellent starting point for many Tatra hikes. From the car park or the railway station you follow the blue trail. The path leads through the forest. The trail is well maintained and suitable for less experienced hikers. 

Popradské pleso

• Altitude: 1 494 m.a.s.l.

After about 1.5 hours you will arrive at Popradský pleso, where you can admire the picturesque mountain lake. There is a mountain hut near the pleso where you can relax and refresh yourself.

In the surroundings of the lake you can visit the Symbolic Cemetery, which is dedicated to the victims of the Tatras. It is a place that is worth a short stop.

2. Crossroads above the Frog Stream - Veľké Hincovo pleso

3. Length of section: 2.1 km
4. Time: 1 hour

From the crossroads above the Frog Creek, the trail rises more significantly. This part of the trail is more difficult and suitable for more experienced hikers. The trail passes through rocky and steep sections, offering stunning views of the Mengusov valley and surrounding peaks. 

Big Hincovo pleso

You have reached your destination. After a challenging climb, a beautiful lake surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Tatra Mountains awaits you. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.

Head back along the same route, leading from Veľký Hincovho pleso via Popradské pleso back to Štrbské Pleso.

Big Hincovo pleso

Veľké Hincovo pleso is located in the Mengusovská valley, which is one of the valleys of the High Tatras. The lake lies at an altitude of 1 946 m above sea level and has an area of 20.08 hectares. The depth of the lake reaches a respectable 53 metres, which makes it the deepest lake in Slovakia. Thanks to its size and the deep blue shade of the water, the lake is a real natural gem.
